As I revisit my goals, I realize that I allow too many distractions and obstacles to deter me from the things that I want to achieve. Not being able to upload my own assignments onto my website frustrates me. When there is no one available to upload them for me, I fall behind, and stop making an effort to complete the assignment. Though, I can not blame uncontrollable misfortunes for me not achieving my goals. There is always a way, to do the things that you want to get done. I believe myself to be very ambitious, I set goals, and make steps to achieve them. But I am also critical of my work, so I become flustered, then lose interest in my piece, and end up not completing the assignment. After understanding all of the things that hinder me from achieving all of my goals, I’ve found one common thread, a loss of motivation. I do not know why I didn’t mention this in my list of distractions that I’d written in the beginning of the year. This is the one reason that things do not get done, I can’t get my paper done when I want it done, the way I want it done, so I give up on it entirely. I feel that I have great potential as a writer so If I can stay focused and driven, then I will be able to say that I have completed all of my goals.
I do feel that I’ve grown as a writer. I have learned a lot from Professor Mangini, he has helped me cultivate my skill as a writer and that was a goal that I’d hoped to achieve. I’d wanted to end the course and be able to say that I have grown as a writer. I take pride in my pieces and hope to take all that I have learned with me as I continue my journey as a college student. As I look back at my Becoming a Better Writer post on my blog, I noticed, as I’m writing this, that I have done exactly what I needed to do to become a better writer. I made a commitment to make the effort to work harder, determined where I was lacking and am now making steps to improve.
